Sales tax exemption

Purchases made directly by Georgia Tech, using an Institute procurement card or purchase order, are exempt from sales tax. See the Procurement & Business Services website for forms to provide to the supplier.

Important

Purchases made by RoboJackets via Ramp or any other payment method generally aren’t exempt, and we must pay sales tax, even if the purchase will be reimbursed by Georgia Tech.

If and only if the purchase is for resale only, a corporation officer can provide a certificate of exemption to the supplier. Students don’t have authorization to sign on behalf of the corporation. See Purchasing merchandise for details.

Note

Some vendor accounts may already have a sales tax exemption applied. If you’re purchasing using a Ramp card, ensure sales tax is charged correctly.
